Cycling and E-biking in Central Carinthia
The cycling tours in Central Carinthia provide variety and many new impressions, and you’ll find the occasional lake for cooling off along the way. Start directly from Abbey St. Georgen on the cycling trail and the Carinthia Lakes Loop. The culture tour leads you from St. Veit an der Glan past Althofen to the oldest town in Carinthia: Friesach. You’ll experience a somewhat sportier day tour with the Metnitztal-Auerlingsee trekking tour. This leads you from Friesach through the Metnitz valley to the idyllic Lake Auerlingsee in Styria. Of course you can also borrow e-bikes from the tourism association in St. Veit. Adventurers will have a lot of fun with the new bike trail in Töscheldorf.

E-bike & Bike Rental
The tourism region Central Carinthia is part of the Carinthia-wide bicycle rental system of the Papin Sport company. You have the option of borrowing the bicycle at one of the participating Papin rental stations and returning it at another Papin rental station anywhere in Carinthia.

Reservation at the Central Carinthia Tourism Office
You can reserve the desired bikes directly at the Tourism Office St. Veit at +43 4212 45608 or info@kaernten-mitte.at. We kindly ask for a binding reservation at least two days before the desired date so that we can guarantee you the booked bike and accessories.
Online bike reservation – direct and uncomplicated via Papin Sport or Kärnten Rent E-Bikes. The reservation for your bike is made directly on the provider’s website Papin Sport. Here you’ll also find a detailed overview of the rental stations in Carinthia as well as all the bikes and bike accessories on offer.
Carinthia Lakes Loop
The Carinthia Lakes Loop is the flagship for all leisure cyclists. As a horizontal figure of eight, the multi-day tour winds along the Carinthian lakes with magnificent views and sights.
In 2023 the tour was expanded with a stage in Central Carinthia with excursion destinations centred on wine and castles. In total, more than 400 kilometres of cycling pleasure and 20 lakes within reach await bikers on the Carinthia Lakes Loop.

Bicycles can be taken on all trains. To guarantee bike transport on the MICOTRA trains (express trains), you must reserve a space for your bike. Nature Mountain Bike Trail in Töscheldorf
The trail runs through steep, near-natural terrain and is aimed at more experienced bikers. Start and finish point is Töscheldorf Castle. Over approximately 1.2 km, the new route leads through the nature and forest area of Töscheldorf Castle, which covers an area of 200 hectares. The elevation gain amounts to around 270 metres.
A well-thought-out signage system has been installed that ensures safe orientation – even for bikers unfamiliar with the area. This trail is thus the first natural single trail, away from the Simonhöhe, in the region.
