Central Carinthia is surrounded by lakes with drinking-water quality, and one of the most beautiful in this region is Lake Längsee. The natural lake is a paradise for young and old and offers ideal swimming conditions for everyone with temperatures of up to 26 degrees. Apart from the Abbey’s own beach lido on Lake Längsee, the many surrounding lakes are also worth a refreshing dip. Lake Kraiger is ideal for enjoying some peace and quiet. Moreover, it is surrounded by numerous sights and invites further excursions. At 745 metres above sea level lies Lake Urbansee, one of the most popular lakes for families. Not far from the Abbey lies the breathtaking Lake Wörthersee. Of course, all lakes offer more than just swimming fun. Try out the variety of water-sports options at the lakes. A jump into the turquoise water guarantees relaxed moments on hot summer days.

Impressive sights in the historic heart of Carinthia
The town of St. Veit an der Glan is known as the city of flowers and as a cultural and event venue. The unique façades of the buildings in the city centre, the beautiful town hall with its glass-roofed inner courtyard, the city wall, the Herzogburg and cozy alleys lend the town a very special charm. The experience town of Friesach is also known as the castle town. Here, a castle is still being built today using medieval methods and without electricity or machines. The Carinthian Open-Air Museum, considered the oldest of its kind in Austria, invites exploration of the living and working ways of past times.
